Therapy
Therapy is a broad term that may encompass a wide range of methods and therapists; so what can you expect when working with me?
I work from a trauma-informed, relational psychodynamic approach. Our work together will focus on your key relationships, the important moments of your life, and the social and cultural ideologies and traditions that have shaped you and your story. We’ll explore the integration of heart, soul, body, mind, and community as a pathway to healing.
I offer in-person or Telehealth therapy for adults, couples, and groups in the areas of: Recovery from Narcissistic Abuse, Trauma & Abuse (sexual, emotional, spiritual, physical, etc.), Anxiety & Depression, Grief & Loss, Codependency, Identity Issues, Life Transitions, Story Work, Calling & Purpose, Faith Issues, and barriers to Spiritual Formation & Growth

As a depth-oriented therapist, much of our work together will involve exploring the root of your struggles to understand why you do the things you do, feel the way you do, and think the way you do. While we'll address the symptoms you are experiencing, as well as develop coping skills and tools for better living, the bulk of our work together will orient around understanding how you ended up where you are today. Whether it's anxiety, perfectionism, trauma or PTSD, feeling stuck, or listlessness, all of these symptoms point to something that is stuck and unresolved in the mind, heart, and body. Understanding the source of our struggles and suffering leads to greater freedom and creative agency on behalf of ourselves and our communities.
While we can’t undo our past, we can seek to understand it, learn from it, and find healing so it no longer controls us. Our work together will identify survival strategies, negative thinking, and behavior patterns that may have once served to protect you and keep you safe, but are now no longer needed. We'll bless them, and the reasons they were needed, and then work to reconstruct new ways of being and relating that are more true to who you are and who you were created to be.
It is my hope that therapy will be a safe space for you to tell your story without judgment and an opportunity for you to develop insight and understanding into where you've been and where you're going.
You can experience “freedom from” so that you have “freedom for.”

Even as Christians we may struggle to know we are loved and accepted by God. Emotional wounds sustained during childhood still impact us and continue to shape how we relate to God, ourselves, and others. They can keep us bound to coping skills and defensive mechanisms that restrict our ability to love and be loved in the way God intended for us.
In the Soul Care group, members will explore how God specifically designed our bodies and minds to work together to live faithfully, work through obstacles, and understand our story through the lens of God’s story.
In this group, you’ll learn how to:
-Understand why your story matters
-Make sense of the difficult experiences you’ve had
-Identify your style of relating―and how that impacts your relationship with self, God, and others
-Move through emotions rather than get stuck by them
-Better understand how your body is connected with your spirituality
-Grow in kindness, compassion, and learn to tune out your inner critic
-Incorporate spiritual practices that draw you to God in meaningful ways
-Assess your life priorities at your current stage of lifeConnecting our physical, emotional, spiritual life through the lens of the gospel is sacred work. It’s never easy and we’ll never be perfect, but we can find deeper meaning and purpose for our lives. “We were made for a living, breathing, moving, feeling, connected, beautifully incarnational life.” - Aundi Kolber

All of us, always, are telling a story about ourselves in our heads. These stories make us who we are and hold sway over our lives; controlling our choices, behaviors, and relationships. Sometimes these stories are distorted, unacknowledged, or misinterpreted. The Story Group will help you engage the broken parts of your story, discover God’s redeeming presence in your life, and grow in becoming who you are meant to be. The Group provides the opportunity to engage your stories of hardship in the midst of a caring community and experience acceptance, compassion and kindness in the process.
In this group you’ll learn:
-How your story matters
-How to engage the stories of others
-How your story is connected to your spirituality
-To understand how your attachment shapes your relationships
-How healing happens
-How to engage shame, guilt, contempt, lies
And more.Knowing our story creates a map of where we’ve been so we better know where we’re meant to go.
Tired of feeling disconnected in your relationships? Do you long for deeper and more satisfying connection?
Consulting
For those who desire someone to walk alongside them, but don't necessarily need therapy. Life & Soul Consulting is a great way to engage personal challenges, struggles in spiritual life, work, relationships, new opportunities, and life transitions.
Life & Soul Consulting is for those who desire to:
-Better understand their story
-Better understand who God has created them to be and do
-Move through struggle, trauma, grief, life transitions
-Grow using the Enneagram
-Prioritize ‘being over doing’
-Develop as an artist, creator, worker, human
-
Together, we'll focus on identifying who you've been created to be, what you've been created to do, and how best to utilize and leverage your gifts, potential, and influence on behalf of yourself and your community. We'll engage and "read" your story in order to better understand where you've been, where you are now, and where you might be headed in the future.
Life & Soul Consulting is also for those who desire to grow their capacity to receive and follow Jesus, become more Spirit-led, and develop a deeper relationship with God. Together we'll explore your faith journey and possible barriers to listening and hearing God's invitations, prayer, discernment, and transformation. I am drawn to working with leaders of leaders in vocationally ministry, pastors, pastor's wives, as well as the "everyday" Christian.
